Well, Schiess

Heilige Rechtschreibung! Who out there knew that the German speaking peoples of the world had totally revamped their rules for spelling their language ten years ago? And you didn't tell me? Granted, it didn't take total effect until last year, but Heilige Ludwig in Neuschwanstein, it's throwing me for a loop. That's what I get for reading Wikipedia.

Sorry. Back to your regularly scheduled whatever.

Two things: first, yes, I did spell the title this way on purpose.

Second, when The Man got home from school last night (not too long after I posted), I told him the "news" about the German spelling change, since he speaks German too, and his first reaction was: "Did you blog this?" Um, yes. How'd you know? ;-}

Wow, I thought their spelling rules were pretty OK as they were. That's coming from English with our messed up spelling, though, so maybe I'm not the best judge.

I'll have to look into that.

If they can do that, why can't we?

Jen: I expect we could; all they had to do was get all German speaking countries to agree to spell things the same way. (It's harder than it sounds.) I think it'd be a lot easier with the English speaking countries.

Local Girl: Thanks. Hmm, weird things about me? Six of them? I'll have to think about that for a while.
